The ESU6 TVI Program offers the expertise and specialized skills to support students who are blind, visually impaired, and multi-handicapped in school settings. Services and resources are provided to local school districts, students, families, teachers, and other support staff upon request.

TVI’s provide direct and indirect instructional supports to students, teachers and support staff to make sure students have adequate and appropriate access to classroom information and materials.   Educational assessments are provided for students who are blind or visually impaired. These assessments will be provided in the school district or in the family’s home.  Assessments include: Functional Vision Assessments and Learning Media Assessment (including, but not limited to: Braille, large print, magnification, auditory). They assist districts with program planning and support families to developing independent living skills and connecting to community resources.

ESU6 is in partnership with Nebraska Center for the Education of Children who are Blind or Visually Impaired (NCECBVI) to support the work of the ESU6 TVI with mentoring and professional learning.
